an illustrated liminal horror story
i should be home by now
postcards from someone almost home
thirty postcards. one road home. nobody’s quite sure how long the trip has taken.
the road home
the notes begin ordinarily enough.
a traveler is making their way home through whispering abyss, sending postcards from roadside diners, empty motels, forgotten bridges, quiet neighborhoods, and roads that are beginning to feel a little too familiar.
at first, the notes are ordinary.
then someone starts leaving the lights on.
the coffee is already waiting.
people seem to know they’re coming.
and every postcard brings them one stop closer to home — and one stop closer to you.

about the book
thirty stops, front and back.
i should be home by now is an illustrated liminal horror story told entirely through thirty postcards — front and back, just as they might arrive in a mailbox.
the journey begins as an ordinary drive home through whispering abyss. diners, motels, campgrounds, bridges and small towns pass by one postcard at a time. slowly, familiar places begin appearing where they shouldn’t. strangers seem to be expecting the traveler. the road keeps folding back toward somewhere increasingly familiar.
nothing impossible ever quite happens.
everything feels wrong.

peek inside
a place. a message. another mile.
every stop arrives as a postcard: a place on the front, a message on the back, and one more piece of the road home.
